Tracy Chapman, the Grammy award-winning singer of “Fast Car,” is suing Nicki Minaj.
Chapman is suing Minaj for copyright infringement. She says the rapper sampled one of her songs without her permission.
In Minaj’s unreleased song, “Sorry,” Chapman claims there are samples of her song, “Baby Can I Hold You.”
Chapman said she said no to Minaj several times when the rapper repeatedly asked her to use the song.
Although the song is not released, Chapman said Minaj gave the song to a New York DJ who played the song and posted it on social media.
Chapman is suing for damages and to prevent Minaj from formally releasing the song.
