MICHAEL JACKSON: First Moonwalk Socks Goes on the Auction Block

A unique piece of Michael Jackson memorabilia is hitting the auction block.

The glittery white socks that the “King of Pop” wore the first time he showed off his iconic moonwalk are part of a collection of items owned by the late Frank DiLeo, the former music exec who signed Jackson to Epic Records.

The socks were worn during Jackson’s performance of “Billie Jean” in the 1983 TV special, Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever. They come with a letter that Jackson sent to DiLeo proving their authenticity and are expected to fetch at least $1 million.

The auction, which can be found at Gottahaverockandroll.com, runs from November 13th-22nd.

Hot Takes:

  • At least a million dollars? Sure, no problem.
  • Aren’t used socks kind of a weird gift to send to someone?
  • The collection also includes gold and platinum awards.
