MPACT LAKE CHARLES AMERICORPS NOW RECRUITING NEW MEMBERS
Impact Lake Charles AmeriCorps is currently recruiting for members for the upcoming terms of service, which will begin on or around September 5, 2017.
Impact offers two different terms of service for members to select from. A member may choose to complete 300 hours of service between the months of September and December or 675 hours of service between the months of September and May.
Upon successful completion of the program, 300 hour members will earn an education award up to $1230.69, while 675 members will earn an education award up to $2215.24. A member has 7 years from the date of completion of the term of service to use their education award. The education award may be used to pay for current education expenses or to make a payment on an existing student loan. The Segal Education Award may also be divided to use portions at different times, as long as it is authorized for expenditures within a specified time period.
Members will also receive a one-time living stipend of $1,610 while serving a 300-hour term; members serving a 675-hour term will receive a $3,500 stipend.
Impact AmeriCorps is a service learning program that gives its members an opportunity to make a positive difference in their lives and the lives of those they serve. Members of Impact Lake Charles AmeriCorps have an opportunity to assist with meeting the critical needs of our community by educating individuals on various health and safety topics and providing much needed assistance with community service projects. Members will also receive life skills trainings that will include but are not limited to, team building, conflict resolution, first aid and CPR, diversity training and resume building.
