Payless Shoe Stores Bankrupt

Payless sales drop and the plan was to file Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The retail chain shutdown all 2,500 store locations in the U.S. and Canada after sales

decline online.

The local Payless store worker at the Prien Lake Mall says they have not announce their last day until

“all inventory is gone.”  Worker wanted her name to remain anonymous.

Stores may remain open until May, although the brick-and-mortar store may close by late March.

Payless is anticipate honoring gift cards and store credit through March 11.

This store first filed bankruptcy last year, that resulted in the shutdown of 900 stores.

Late Monday, Payless Shoe source submitted papers for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

USA Today reports that the retail chain idea is to shutdown all 2,500 store locations in U.S.

and Canada.
