Cuba Gooding Jr: Backs Off on Surrendering Today

Cuba Gooding Junior was all set to turn himself in to police today to face charges for allegedly groping a woman at a New York bar, but now his lawyer is saying, “not so fast.”

The actor was accused of getting drunk and grabbing a woman’s breast. He denied the accusation and said the surveillance footage would back him up, but would still surrender to police today. But his lawyer now says he has seen the footage and it shows “absolutely no criminality taking place on the part of my client.”

Mark Heller says he’s now not sure that Gooding will turn himself in. He first wants to know if the D.A.’s office has seen the footage because he doesn’t believe they would still want to arrest him. (TMZ)

Hot Takes:

  • Look, if he really did nothing wrong, why should he turn himself in?
  • It’s up to the police and the D.A.’s office to make that determination.
  • If the alleged victim really believes she was assaulted, then Gooding must be arrested.
