Donald Trump: Ordered 1,000 troops to the Mid East as Tension Continue in Iran

Donald Trump on Monday ordered another 1,000 troops to the Mid East as tensions between the U.S. and Iran continue to rise.

It comes as Tehran said that it plans to break parts of the 2015 international agreement designed to halt its nuclear program and just days after two oil tankers were attacked in the Gulf of Oman. The Trump administration has blamed Iran for those attacks.

Although the U.S. pulled out of the 2015 pact last year, with Trump claiming it wasn’t tough enough on Iran, the White House is seeking pressure from the international on Iran to keep the country from breaking the deal.

The National Security Council said in a statement, “President Trump has made it clear he will never allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons.” (The New York Times)

Hot Takes:

  • Trump has been critical of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, now it seems as if the U.S. is headed into another conflict, while he’s in office.
  • How can this situation be defused?
  • The 1,000 troops come after 1,500 were sent to the area in May.
