American sentenced to 12 yrs in prison in Vietnam

An American accused of trying to overthrow the Vietnamese government has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

55-year-old Michael Nguyen [pr: Noo-yen] of Orange County, California was convicted of arranging protests and inciting others to attack government offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Two Vietnamese men were also sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.

The Communist nation doesn’t allow protests and cracks down on all critics of the government. (CBS News)
