Spider-Man: Far From Home has broken the recent sequel slump with a historic $185 million opening.
The superhero flick now holds the record for the best six-day opening for a Tuesday opener, according to Box Office Mojo. It also delivered the best Tuesday opening day ever. Far From Home earned $93.6 million over the weekend and $91 million between Tuesday and Thursday.
The horror flick Midsommar had the largest indie opening of the year with $6.6 million over the weekend. It earned $10.9 million since opening on Wednesday.
After two weekends atop the list, Toy Story 4 dropped to second with $34.3 million. The Pixar movie has now banked $306.6 million.
Yesterday remained in third with $10.8 million, followed by Annabelle Comes Home ($9.8 million) and Aladdin ($7.6 million).
