UPDATE (7:00 a.m. ET): The prosecutor says he will not recommend the full two-year sentence if Rocky is convicted. The trial is expected to begin next Tuesday. (TMZ)

This morning in Sweden, A$AP Rocky was charged with assault. If convicted he faces two years in prison and a percentage of his income.

The prosecutor released a statement (quote) “We concluded that the events in question constitute a crime despite claims of self-defense and provocation.”

He and two buddies will remain in jail through the trial, which has not been scheduled but by Swedish law must start in a matter of weeks. Sometime next week, the court will announce that date. Bail is not available in Sweden.

Rocky was involved in a street fight late last month. Video showed him throwing a person down to the ground. He’s been in jail for three weeks. Kim Kardashian and President Donald Trump advocated for his freedom. Rocky’s attorney complained of the unsanitary conditions in the jail. (TMZ)
