Jussie Smollett wants a judge to dismiss the $130,000 lawsuit the city of Chicago filed against him.
In his motion, the former Empire star says the suit “appears to be an unprecedented effort to seek penalties and resources expended in connection with allegedly false statements made to the police where the related criminal case concerning the statements was dismissed…”
After failing to find evidence of his hate crime, police charged Jussie with filing a false police report. Those charges were eventually dropped, and now the city is trying to recoup the cost of the investigation.
But, according to Radar Online, Jussie argues that the city doesn’t have enough evidence to prove the allegedly false police report resulted in the amount of overtime stated.
