DAYTON, OHIO: 20,000 people attend “Gem City Shine”

A free block party in Dayton, Ohio’s Oregon District drew a crowd of 20,000 people yesterday as the city came together to honor the victims of the August 4th mass shooting.

The event titled, “Gem City Shine,” was hosted by comedian Dave Chappelle and featured a star-studded guest list including Stevie WonderChance the RapperTeyana TaylorTalib Kweli and Jon Stewart. Earlier in the day, Kanye West held his Sunday Service in a Dayton park.

The “Gem City Shine” was a free event put together entirely with donations. It was intended to raise money for the victims fund and to lift the city’s spirits. (USA Today)
