Donald Trump: Tax Returns Subpoena from 8 years ago

The saga over Donald Trump‘s tax returns to another turn Monday when it was revealed that the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office fired off a subpoena to Trump’s accounting firm calling for the release of eight years of Trump’s personal and corporate income tax returns, as part of an ongoing probe.

The subpoena was sent last month but just made public. D.A. Cyrus Vance Jr.‘s office is investigating the hush money payments given to porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy pinup Karen McDougal. Vance is investigating whether business records related to the payments were falsified by the Trump Organization. (CNBC)

Hot Takes:

  • We’ll see if this will finally make team Trump give up his tax returns.
  • Trump has long claimed that he was being audited by the IRS. That’s why he can’t release his tax returns.
  • It would be interesting to see how those payments were itemized on Trump’s tax returns.
  • Trump can make America great again and keep his tax returns private.
