BOMB THREAT: Kansas Soldier Arrested for Planning Attacks

A soldier is under arrest after allegedly distributing bomb-making information and planning attacks.

24-year-old Jarrett William Smith was nabbed in a sting operation at Fort Riley, Kansas over the weekend. He’s charged with one federal count of distributing information related to explosives and weapons of mass destruction. Investigators say he bragged of sharing bomb-making knowledge with others.

Agents also say that Smith planned to attack “Antifa activists,” an unnamed news network and Democratic Presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke.

Smith joined the Army in June 2017. (CBS News)

Hot Takes:

  • Evil lurks everywhere, even in the Armed Forces. This isn’t a reflection on our men and women in uniform.
  • This is just more evidence how lacking the military is in getting psychological help to soldiers.
  • This guy doesn’t sound too sophisticated. He blabbed all his plans to an FBI agent on an Internet messaging app.
