The nature of that “whistleblower” complaint against President Trump is coming into focus.
The President admitted Sunday that he did indeed discuss Joe Biden with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as has been reported by the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal and other outlets. But Trump insists that he did nothing wrong.
The whistleblower reportedly filed a report saying, among other things, that Trump promised that Ukraine would get military aid from the United States in exchange for campaign dirt on Biden. But Trump denies making any promises.
Democratic Congressional leaders want the whistleblower complaint turned over to them, but so far the Department of Justice has denied that request. (NBC News)
Hot Takes:
- Trump continues to insist that he did nothing wrong and that the media will have egg on its face, but the White House also continues to block Congress from seeing the report.
- Zelensky has said that he considers Putin “an enemy.” They couldn’t get Trump on Russia, so now they’re trying it with Russia’s foes.
- The stuff that Republicans are trying to link Biden and his son to is the same kind of stuff that Trump’s children are doing.
- This really feels like another distraction from the real issues, like Iran and border security.
