J. COLE: Dropping New Music

J. Cole plans to come through with new music in 2020.

The North Carolina rapper broke the news on Friday at the Day N Vegas festival. Cole played a video made to look like a campaign ad. The clip shows police, protesters and politicians, with pictures of Cole over a waving American flag. The narrator says that things are all messed up these days and it’s time for a change. “The country needs a hero to turn to in these turbulent times. Jermaine Cole is that hero.” The narrator talks him up as a “man whose humility knows no bounds. A man whose pen is so potent, each word of his verses reportedly cost $2,000.”

The video ends with a call to action; “Make your voice heard. Vote for The Fall Off in 2020.”

Hot Takes:

  • Cole’s last album, KOD, from 2018, ended with a track called “1985 (Intro to “‘The Fall Off’)”.
  • We recently heard J. Cole on the new Gang Starr single. Wonder if Premier will return the favor and lace him with some beats.
  • He’s got my vote.
  • This will be his sixth studio album.
