The Pardon and Parole Board in Oklahoma is set to release 450 prison inmates today, the largest single day commutation is U.S. history.
All of the inmates have been serving time for non-violent crimes that would no longer be considered felonies if they were charged today. Governor Kevin Stitt said, “More than 450 Oklahomans are getting a second chance today.”
The board considered releasing as many as 814 inmates. Another 65 are expected to have their sentences commuted soon. (KOKH-TV)
