NFL: Drew Brees Breaks Touchdown Record

The New Orleans Saints crushed the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football, but the big star of the night was Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

The 40-year-old threw a five-yard pass to tight end Josh Hill for his 540th career touchdown pass, breaking the record held by Peyton Manning. It capped off a huge night for Brees who threw four touchdown passes and also set a record for the highest single-game completion rate for a quarterback after completing 29 of 30 passing attempts. Hot Takes:

  • His only incomplete pass was a short toss attempt to running back Latavius Murray.
  • If you’ve watched the NFL for the past two decades, you’ve gotten to see some of the greatest quarterbacks of all time in Brees, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.
  • Last week he threw five touchdowns in a loss to the 49ers.
