Federal employees are getting an unexpected Christmas gift from President Trump… an extra day off.
Trump signed an executive order Tuesday night giving more than two million federal workers off for Christmas Eve. The order reads, “all executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government shall be closed and their employees excused from duty” on December 24th. The only exceptions are public safety and national security officers. (USA Today)
Hot Takes:
- Federal workers usually get an extra day around Christmas when the holiday falls near a weekend, but this year it’s a Wednesday, so it’s nice to get Christmas Eve off as well.
- President Trump is also expected to sign off on a raise for federal employees.
- It’s nice to see that Trump is still working despite all of the impeachment stuff going on.
