Janet Jackson has some big plans for 2020, including a new album and a big tour celebrating an old one.
Miss Jackson tells fans she hopes to release Black Diamond before the end of the year. She says, “Black Diamonds are the toughest of all the diamonds, the hardest to cut — I see that as the hardest to hurt or destroy. There is a lot that I have endured. I see myself as a Black Diamond in its purest form. I’m a rock, I have rough edges but I keep moving forward.”

Janet has named her summer tour after that album, so she may be previewing some of the songs on the road. But she’s focusing on her classic Rhythm Nation 1814 album, which she’ll perform in its entirety. The tour kicks off on June 24th in Miami and wraps up on August 23rd in Tacoma, Washington.
Hot Takes:
- It’s more fun to wonder what’s coming next than to know you’re going to hear an album in order.
- I’d rather hear the great songs that made her a superstar, not new music I don’t know any of the words to.
- Hope we get to hear some of the new stuff — Janet is always good with surprises.
- She’s been through a lot of things in recent years — the new songs will probably show those scars and the recovery.
