As the U.S. shuts down its movie theaters, China has started to reopen theirs.
According to Variety, 486 cinemas were open on Friday and by Monday that grew to 507. Still, that’s less than 5% of all the theaters that were open before the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
But people are staying away. The total box office for Friday was less than $2,000.
On Monday, China reported no new local cases of the virus.
- It’s a good sign.
- Maybe Hollywood can release their movies there and make back some money.
- When theaters in the U.S. reopen, people will probably stay away for awhile.
