CORONAVIRUS: Trump and Biden Talk About Pandemic

In a rare conversation between the two likely rivals in the 2020 race for the presidency, Donald Trump and Joe Biden had a discussion over the phone Monday afternoon about the coronavirus pandemic.

Trump confirmed the call during Monday evening’s coronavirus task force press briefing.

“We had a really wonderful, warm conversation. It was a very nice conversation. We talked about, pretty much this. This is what we talked about. This is what everyone is talking about. This is what they want to talk about.”

“He gave me his point of view and I fully understood that. We just had a very friendly conversation. It lasted probably 15 minutes. It was really good. It was really good.”

When asked about specifics, however, Trump wouldn’t reveal much more, saying that he and the former VP “agreed we weren’t going to talk about what we said.” (FOX News)

Hot Takes:

  • This is encouraging. Perhaps Biden had some good suggestions.
  • Biden’s camp also confirmed the two spoke and said it was “a good call.”
  • Sometimes Trump can be surprisingly civil and cooperative.
