JAY-Z: No *Made in America* in 2020

Jay-Z won’t be in Philly this Labor Day Weekend — the Made in America Festival has been postponed until Labor Day weekend of 2021.

A message on the fest’s website says, “We are in a pivotal time in this nation’s history. Collectively, we are fighting parallel pandemics, COVID-19, systematic racism and police brutality. Now is the time to protect the health of our artists, fans, partners and community as well as focus on our support for organizations and individuals fighting for social justice and equality in our country.”

If you have tickets, they’ll be honored next year, but you’ll get an E-mail soon on how to request a refund. A lineup was never announced, so we don’t know who’ll be on the bill next year.

Hot Takes:

  • This was inevitable, but it still sucks.
  • Interesting that Jay brings social issues into the conversation. We’ve been saying for a while that racial justice and COVID-19 are not separate stories.
  • I don’t think there will be any festivals until there’s a vaccine and this thing is in the rear-view.
