Walmart announced yesterday that it will keep all of its stores closed on Thanksgiving this year as a way to give thanks to employees who have been working through the coronavirus pandemic.
Not only will employees get a much-deserved day off to spend with their families, they will also receive a bonus. The company says it will pay out $428 million in bonuses “for their ongoing contributions and dedication to serving customers, members and communities during this unprecedented time.” The bonuses work out to about $300 for full-time employees and $150 for part-time.
CEO John Furner said in a message to workers, “We know it’s been a trying year, and you’ve stepped up. We want you to enjoy the day at home with your loved ones.” (USA Today)
