The press got it wrong. Viola Davis didn’t buy the South Carolina home where she was born. After her tweet made news, the actress set the record straight, writing, “Uhh….contrary to websites….I do not ‘own’ above house, I ‘own’ my STORY!! Too abstract I guess.”
Earlier this week, Viola posted a photo of the building, which is on the land of a former plantation. She wrote, “The above is the house where I was born August 11, 1965. It is the birthplace of my story. Today on my 55th year of life….I own it….all of it.” Oops!
- Well, it made a good story.
- That’s the problem with using the word “it.”
- That’s the problem with basing stories off of social media posts without confirmation.
- Maybe she’ll buy it now. The house, I mean. Not her life story.
